02 — How we refurbish a used press brake

Like new. Really.

Every used press brake goes through the same department that builds our new machines. The full refurbishment takes four to eight weeks in our plant.

  • Full disassembly and structural inspection
  • Hydraulic oil and filter replacement
  • Overhaul of cylinders, valves, seals
  • CNC update to the latest version
  • Safety upgrade to 2026 standards
  • Full repainting
  • Hydraulic and electrical testing
  • 12-month warranty on the whole machine
— Buying guide

8 checks. We do them for you.

Buying a used press brake from a middleman means checking everything yourself — and often finding the problems after delivery. With us these eight checks are not a risk on you: they are the refurbishment.

  • Warped frame or worn guides: inaccurate bending. Frame geometry check and restoration of the couplings.
  • Oil leaks, cylinders and valves at end of life. Oil and filter change, overhaul of cylinders, valves and seals.
  • Obsolete CNC no longer supported. CNC update to the latest available version.
  • Safety devices not compliant with current standards. Safety upgrade to 2026 standards (EN 12622).
  • Hidden mechanical wear under the guards. Full disassembly and structural inspection.
  • Dated electrical system, unexpected downtime. Full electrical overhaul and testing.
  • Corrosion and neglected cosmetic condition. Full repaint to as-new condition.
  • No warranty: machine sold "as-is". 12-month warranty and detailed intervention report.

Deep-dive

PG SRL used machines: refurbished by the manufacturer.

A press brake and shear manufacturer since 2000, PG SRL reconditions its own refurbished used machines in the same Mariano Comense plant where it builds them. In twenty-five years, 3 out of 4 PG machines are still in production: that same robustness is what makes a refurbished PG a safe investment. Not resellers, not middlemen: the original manufacturer putting its own machine back to work.

What "refurbished by PG SRL" means

Inspection disassembly, frame geometry check, replacement of worn parts, hydraulic restoration, CNC calibration, repainting, final bench test. Every machine leaves refurbishment with a detailed intervention report.

Warranty

12-month warranty on mechanics and hydraulics, contractually extendable. Same service network as new machines: remote support, OEM spare parts, on-site interventions.

Possible upgrades

During refurbishment we can update the CNC, replace the laser safety system to current standards, add axes to the back gauge, convert traditional hydraulics to a hybrid configuration.

Availability

The used-machine inventory changes frequently. If you're after a specific configuration — tonnage, length, CNC — let us know: we often catch machines coming in before they reach the listing.

Trading in? We take back your press brake

If you are replacing a press brake or a shear, we appraise it as a trade-in: we take it back, recondition it and put it back into circulation. It is the very cycle our guaranteed used stock comes from — and for you it becomes a down payment on the new or refurbished machine.

FAQ

Used press brakes: frequently asked questions

Is it worth buying a used press brake?

Yes, when the machine is reconditioned by the company that built it. A used press brake refurbished by the manufacturer performs close to new at a lower cost and with fast delivery. PG overhauls the hydraulics, CNC and safety systems of every machine and backs it with a 12-month warranty: the usual risk of an "as-is" used machine bought from a middleman is gone.

What warranty does a refurbished used press brake have?

12-month warranty on mechanics and hydraulics, contractually extendable, with the same service network as new machines: remote support, OEM spare parts and on-site interventions.

Used press brake from the manufacturer or a dealer — which is better?

From the manufacturer. PG takes back, inspects and reconditions the machine in the same plant where it builds new press brakes: it restores frame geometry, hydraulics and CNC with original expertise and stands behind it with a warranty. A reseller resells; the manufacturer truly brings the machine back to standard.

How much do you save with a refurbished used press brake?

The saving on purchase price versus new is significant, but the real advantage is total cost: the machine arrives tested, with a 12-month warranty, compliant safety and direct manufacturer support. With "as-is" used machines from a middleman, hidden costs — compliance, repairs, downtime — often wipe out the initial saving.

Are the used press brakes ready for delivery?

Machines in stock are in our workshop, already reconditioned and tested: ready for delivery and available for inspection by appointment, without the lead time of a new machine.

Are PG used press brakes compatible with Industry 4.0/5.0?

No: a used press brake is not an "Industry 4.0" asset, neither technically nor for tax purposes. During refurbishment we still update the CNC, safety systems and interconnection to the company network — the machine runs in a modern, connected way — but that does not turn it into an incentive-eligible 4.0 asset. The 2026 incentives (super-depreciation, Nuova Sabatini, ZES, the ISI INAIL call) apply only to brand-new equipment: used machines, even if overhauled or reconditioned, are excluded by law. If the goal is to leverage the incentives, the route is a new machine; a refurbished used one remains the right choice when budget and fast delivery matter.

Can I update the CNC and safety systems of a used machine?

Yes. During refurbishment we can update the CNC to the latest version, replace the laser safety system to the EN 12622 standard, add axes to the back gauge and convert traditional hydraulics to a hybrid configuration.

How much does a refurbished used press brake cost?

The price depends on the final configuration — tonnage, length, CNC, safety and accessories — which is why we do not publish it online. Request a custom quote: we reply with a proposal on the specific machine.

Which brands of used press brakes do you deal with?

We recondition PG press brakes and shears as well as machines from other makers. Stock changes often: if you are after a specific model or configuration, let us know and we activate our search network to find the right machine.
